You Are What You Eat

This is a common saying you’ve likely heard several times, but what does that mean?

Taken quite literally, what you put in your body is what you become. This not only applies to the food you eat but the media you consume, the relationships you keep, the environment you’re in and the spiritual or mental health practices you have.

It’s essential to mindfully choose to nourish our bodies with foods that support our overall well-being. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be complicated, even though it can be daunting. Start by making easy swaps like opting for whole-grain bread versus white bread, slowly incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your daily meals, or staying hydrated by drinking more water. Adding products like sea moss gel into your daily routine can boost your health by adding the essential minerals and vitamins your body needs.

What sort of media do you tend to gravitate toward? With our phones at the ready and the algorithm working its magic, we’re constantly being fed the news or absorbing information that isn’t always in alignment with our present thoughts and feelings. While the world is heavy at the moment, making it a point to notice how specific stories, videos, or photos make us feel can help us better navigate what type of media sparks positive energy.

Relationships with self, friends, and family are important but can also make or break us. Cultivating healthy relationships with those who inspire and bring out the best in us is so vital to living a healthy lifestyle. Make it a point to spend time with these people when you can - you might be surprised at what new perspectives or insights you might learn.

Your environment is everything - how your personal space looks is equivalent to how your mind is. Spending time in an area that brings peace and comfort can greatly decrease stress levels, promoting better sleep and relaxation.

Studies show that keeping a spiritual practice can boost mental acuity, memory, and overall well-being. What sort of practices help you slow down? For us, this could look like meditation, breathwork, yoga, or religious practices.

These are some beliefs we have when we look at health holistically. If you eat ultra-processed foods, you’ll begin to feel ultra-processed yourself. If you focus on the negative, you’ll become negative. If you entertain toxic relationships, you’ll become toxic. The only one in control of reaching your highest potential is you.
